Eric Newcomer (WSSC 2008 Plenary Keynote Speaker) - In his role as Chief Technology Officer at IONA, Eric is responsible for IONA's technology and product strategy and participation in standards bodies.

Eric joined IONA in November 1999, after nearly 16 years at Digital/Compaq, as the company's transaction processing architect, and also served as IONA's Vice President of Engineering, Web Services Integration Products.

Eric has contributed to many transaction processing, middleware, and Web services standardization and product development activities. He is currently a member of the Eclipse and OSGi Boards, and co-chair of the OSGi Enterprise Expert Group. He is well known for his expertise in SOA, Web services, and transaction processing.

Eric is the author of Understanding Web Services (published in May 2002 by Addison-Wesley), co-author with Phil Bernstein of Principles of Transaction Processing (published in January 1997 by Morgan Kaufman), and co-author with Greg Lomow of Understanding SOA with Web Services, published by Addison Wesley in December 2004 .

Hal Lockhart (hlockhar@bea.com) - co-chairs the OASIS TAB and is a Senior Principal Engineering Technologist in the CTO's Office of BEA Systems. He represents BEA in information security-related standards activities at various bodies including OASIS, WS-I, EPCGlobal, JCP, W3C, Liberty Alliance, OMG, and Open Group. He is the co-chair of the OASIS XACML TC, co-chair of the OASIS Security Services (SAML) TC, and an active member of a number of other TCs including WS-SX. a. In 2004 he represented OASIS to ITU-T in relation to SAML and XACML. He was the OASIS Coordinator for the April 2005 WS-Security Interop. He has frequently been an OASIS speaker at various public events and is also the primary representative to OASIS for BEA Systems.. In his more than 30 years in the software industry, Mr. Lockhart has been an application developer, kernel engineer, systems architect, engineering manager, operations manager, consultant, author, Director of Security and standards representative. His term on the TAB extends to July 2009 .
Brand Niemann - is a Senior Enterprise Architect in the Office of the Chief Information Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency. His work on EPA and Interagency data architecture to facilitate electronic information sharing was recognized by Federal Computer Week in its 2006 Power Player Series Special Report and recently at the Gartner Spring Enterprise Architecture Summit Conference. He was asked by Federal Computer Week to help organize The 22nd Semi-Annual Spring Government CIO Summit Government by Wiki: New Tools for Collaboration, Information-Sharing, and Decision-Making and provided a keynote on Government by Web 2.0 (Wiki): A Guided Tour .
Kyle Gabhart - is a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) evangelist and strategist, currently serving as the Director of SOA Technology for Web Age Solutions. Kyle has contributed extensively to the SOA / Web Services community since 2001 as a consultant, mentor, author, speaker, and Open Source contributor. When not working, Kyle can be found at the playground with his kids, in cyberspace playing online games, or at a coffee shop reading Foucault, C.S. Lewis, or Scott Adams .
Rami Jaamour - is a product manager for SOA Solutions at Parasoft Corporation. Rami has 5 years experience in the SOA and Web services domain. He has published numerous articles and spoken at many SOA related events, such as RSA, EclipseWorld, SOA World, etc.. His experience with SOA includes the development of effective SOA test automation methodologies and the establishment of effective SDLC processes and activities that are essential for successful SOA initiatives. Rami has worked with many of Parasoft clients on achieving their goals in having secure, reliable and compliant SOA .

Aino-Maija Fagerlund has wide experience within Finnish and international software companies. She is the CEO and co-owner of Finnish software company FRENDS Technology, Inc., specializing in process integration technology. Her company is recognized as leading process integration technology provider with high customer satisfaction among high end customers and partners in Finland. Aino-Maija Fagerlund is also a board memberships in Finnish Software Entrepreneur Association and Tekes Technology Program Fund. She is Chairman of Finnish Chapter of International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners .

Danny Garber is the SOA Solutions Consulting Architect with the Center of Excellence (CoE) team in Microsoft Enterprise Services of East Region, US. He joined Microsoft in July 2006 as a SOA and BizTalk Server Integration SME. During his 21+ years of IT experience, 13 of them in a role of architect, Danny had been engaged on various consulting customer engagements assisting customers to plan and implement SOA solutions, while addressing various best practices and state-of-the-art technologies. Danny is an active member of Microsoft SOA Insiders group, helping to shape the current and future Microsoft SOA Service Offerings and strategy. Prior to joining Microsoft, Danny was with IBM Global Services where he served as a member of SOA Competency Architect Team practicing and enhancing IBM SOA Methodology and IBM SOA Reference Architecture on Microsoft platform. Danny constantly speaks at various technology events including Microsoft TechEd, TechReady and IBM SHARE .

Paul Lipton is a Senior Architect in the CA Intellectual Property and Industry Standards Group where he plays a leadership role in industry standards, open source, and emerging technology. Paul has been an architect and developer of enterprise systems for over 20 years and has also focused on SOA, Web services, virtualization, social computing, and innovation. He has participated in many standards organizations such as OASIS and the W3C, is a founding member of the CA Council for Technical Excellence, a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional, and a Sun Java Champion. He is a highly sought-after author and speaker, and has shared his knowledge with appreciative audiences around the world covering such topics as Enterprise Architecture, SOA, Web services, management/security, governance, Java,.NET, EAI, and emerging technologies .

Jesus Rodriguez Jesus Rodriguez is an Enterprise Architect and Consultant specializing in large-scale SOA and BPM projects. He is also a Microsoft BizTalk Server MVP, an Oracle ACE and one of a few Architects worldwide to be a member of the Microsoft Connected Systems Advisor team. As a member, Jesus has been selected to participate in a variety of Software Design Reviews with Microsoft’s Product Teams including Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation and BizTalk Server. He derived his extensive experience with business process integration and messaging through numerous implementations of disparate systems founded on the principles of SOA and BPM. Jesus is an active contributor to the .NET and J2EE communities and an internationally recognized speaker and author with contributions that include several articles for various publications including MSDN, Microsoft Architecture Journal, SOAWorld and Web Services Journal as well as speaking engagements at top industry conferences such as Microsoft TechEd, SOAWorld, Microsoft SOA and BPM Conference, Web Services Security Conference and the Microsoft MVP Summit. Anthony Nadalin is IBM’s chief security architect. As a Distinguished Engineer, he is responsible for security infra-structure design and development across IBM, Tivoli and Lotus. He serves as the primary security liaison to Sun Microsystems’ JavaSoft Division for Java security design and development collaboration, and to Microsoft for Web Services security design and development collaboration. In his 21-year career with IBM, Anthony has covered the following positions: lead security architect for VM/SP, security architect for AS/400, and security architect for OS/2. Anthony has authored and co-authored over thirty technical journal and conference articles. Anthony has published two books on Java Security and the Internet. Anthony has been on the technical committee of three major scientific journals and one conference, and has reviewed extensively work published by peers in the field. He has given several presentations and invited speeches at numerous technical security conferences .

Andrew Brown has more than ten years of experience in developing and marketing enterprise security solutions. In his role as AmberPoint’s Director of Product Marketing, he works closely with AmberPoint’s hundreds of enterprise customers and helps set the company’s product roadmap for SOA security solutions. Prior to AmberPoint, Andrew was a co-founder and Director of Strategic Marketing at Nanobiz, who built the industry’s first Web services development platform. Andrew went on to serve as Evangelist for the XML Web Services Security initiative at VeriSign, where he drove the development of offerings for application security. Andrew has also been a part of several security-related startups, has participated in industry standards groups, such as WS-I, and was a member of the Java Commerce group at Sun .

M. Stracener was one of the founding members of nCircle Network Security. While at nCircle he served as the head of vulnerability research from 1999 to 2001, developing one of the industry’s first quantitative vulnerability scoring systems, and co-inventing several patented technologies. Mr. Stracener is an experienced security consultant, penetration tester and vulnerability researcher. One of his patents, “Interoperability of vulnerability and intrusion detection systems,” was granted by the USPTO in October 2005. Mr. Stracener is currently the Senior Security Analyst for Cenzic’s CIA Labs .

Eugene kuznetsov is noted as the pioneer in the SOA appliance category and a recognized leader within the XML, Web services and SOA industries. Mr. Kuznetsov founded DataPower in 1999 where he served for three years as president and CTO, then as chairman and until the IBM acquisition of DataPower in October 2005. In recogof his SOA Appliance vision and leadership, Mr. Kuznetsov was named one of the "Top 25 Most Influential CTOs" for 2005. He is a well regarded speaker at numerous conferences and events including NetSec, JavaOne, Networld+Interop, NATO C3 Agency, HPWorld, CIO Council XML.gov Working Group, Web Services DevCon, MITRE XML Day, NECINA, Web Services Edge, Gartner's Application Integration and Web Services Summit, and the IT Security & Privacy Conference. Mr. Kuznetsov holds a BSEE from MIT .

Pyounguk Cho Pyounguk Cho is a Principal Product Manger in the Java Platform Group at Oracle Corporation and is responsible for shaping up the product features and functionalities for web services and SOA for OC4J (Oracle Container For Java) product in Oracle Application Server 11g, working with a development team consisting of over 30 engineers. Previously, he served as a Consulting Technical Manager of Advanced Technology Solutions at Oracle Consulting during which he has engaged in client projects for private business enterprises and US government and played the lead role for various custom development projects in the areas of RFID, health care, manufacturing, Digital Right Management, and B2B integration using J2EE and Web Services technologies.

Pyounguk has previously served as a Senior Engineer in the Web Services Orchestration/XMLBUS team at IONA and an Engineer at Netfish Technologies, Inc building B2B engines.

Pyounguk received his MS. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland and BS. in Computer Science from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. He has presented at many conferences and is well published in technical editions .

Pradipa Karbhari currently serves as the Director of SOA and Business Integration at Sogeti USA, LLC. Prior to this, she was the National Director of Web Services and SOA for SilverTrain. Considered a renowned expert in her field, her experience spans over 17 years in Information Technology leadership, design and development, with an emphasis on Service Oriented Architectures, Web Applications, Web Services and Solutions Delivery. Having past experience in large multi-national companies, Pradipa has spent the last few years in Houston, serving a diverse market across several vertical industries such as Energy, Finance, Utilities, Health Care and Transportation. She is a registered speaker with the Object Management Group (OMG) Consortium.Pradipa’s reputation has earned her multiple speaking engagements at various international conventions (such as JavaOne, Web Services Edge, OASIS, OpenGroup and TDWI) based on the technologies and systems she has architected during the course of her career .

Kerry G. (Kwasi) Holman President and CEO of Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation and has an expansive and professional background in business and economic development, banking, small business turnaround, legislative affairs, policy analysis and marketing spans over two decades. Mr. Holman began his career in 1983 working for The District of Columbia Office of Business and Economic Development as Executive Director where he developed the District’s first industrial park, with new initiatives in development of arts facilities. From 1987 - 1991, he joined the National Bank of Washington as a Senior Vice President responsible for a $10 million portfolio. In 1992, he worked as Executive Director for the Ellington Fund and raised and managed $1.2 million fund to support the academic and arts programs at the Duke Ellington School of Arts. In 1993, he served as Executive Vice President for the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce where he directed and administered programs to heighten visibility of the Chamber and to enhance membership. In 1999, in his role as President and CEO of the New York Avenue Development Corporation he implemented transportation and policy improvements designed to attract businesses and residents to the New York Avenue corridor. In 2002, he worked for the National Capital Revitalization Corporation as the Director of Business Development where he managed the Economic Development Finance Corporation. In February of 2003, he launched his own consulting company, The Holman Group that includes a number of clients. He is currently the President and CEO of the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation, a non profit organization whose mission is to develop, implement and evaluate programs and initiatives intended to foster the industrial, economic, commercial growth and expansion and revitalization of Prince George’s County.

Mr. Holman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government, Economics and History from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut (1971), a Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. (1974) and is a graduate of the Fundraising School of Indiana University - Principles of Fundraising (1988) .

Malinda Kaushalye Kapuruge is a PMC member and a committer of the Apache Software Foundation. He is an active contributer to the Apache Axis2/C project, a popular Web services processing engine in the C language. Kaushalye is also the initiator of the Apache Rampart/C project. This project provides Web Services Security functionalities by implementing the WS-Security, WS-SecureConversation, WS-SecurityPolicy and WS-Trust specifications. He has also written an XML crypto library known as OMXMLSec providing message level encryption and signature support for AXIOM XML infoset model. Currently Kaushalye works full time at WSO2, contributing to the WSO2 Web Services Framework for C (WSO2 WSF/C) project, which is the base framework for many scripting languages supporting Web services including Ruby, PHP and Perl. He has published many articles and presented at several events specially in the field of web services security and scripting languages .

Deepal Jayasinghe, is a Technical Lead at WSO2 Inc., the open source technology company creating middleware platforms for Web services and SOA. Deepal is an open source enthusiast and is an active contributor to several Apache Web services projects.

He is an Apache member, Web service PMC member and Apache commiter. Deepal is currently working on the architecture and development of Apache Axis2, while also contributing to Apache Synapse, Apache Axiom, Apache XmlSchema and Apache Sandesha.

Deepal is a frequent speaker in conferences such as ApacheCon and XML conference. He has more than four years of industrial experience in software design and development. His research interests are mainly in distributed computing, fault tolerance systems and Web service related technologies .
